For immediate release (UK) April 2nd, 2021
Merchant Tailor, the sustainable apparel designer and merchandiser, has joined forces with Andretti United’s Extreme E team, to produce the team kit for drivers Timmy Hansen and Catie Munnings, fans and consumers. Its partnership with Andretti United Extreme E, has allowed scope to design and manufacture a complete collection of team wear made from sustainable, recycled sources. It is entirely crafted from recycled ocean plastic and organic cotton.
Merchant Tailor has a track record and expertise in sustainable design and merchandising in motorsports. It is set apart for quality, hi definition printing, superior finish and above all the use of recycled materials.
Extreme E followers and fans will be treated to a range of jackets, zip jerseys, sweats, tees, caps and hats that capture the team energy and dynamic. Founder and designer Peter Hall has drawn inspiration from the tough terrain drivers will navigate, sometimes mapping contours onto fabrics as a backdrop to set out the key logos for Andretti, Yahoo, Continental and others.
The fit for Extreme E, as a radical new racing series, is hand in glove. With sustainable values running through the events DNA, electric SUVs competing in extreme environments around the world will leverage the environmental cause. The five-race competition (from Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland, Brazil, an
d Pa- tagonia) will shine a light on climate change across the world’s most fragile ecosystems, promoting the adop- tion of electric vehicles to preserve and protect the planet.
With 30% of the planet’s CO2 emissions coming from transport, Extreme E exists to showcase the high per- formance but also the rationale for electric vehicles. The competition uses a powerful mix of thrilling sports action, scientific education and storytelling to accelerate electric adoption, reduce CO2 emissions and en- courage a more sustainable lifestyle. Peter Hall, CEO & Founder, Merchant Tailor said “We are delighted and privileged to be aligned with two great names in motorsport, Andretti Autosport and United Autosports. The partnership with Andretti United on the Extreme E platform, confronting and tackling environmental issues, perfectly aligns with our values at Merchant Tailor, where sustainable choices come first. We look forward to the forthcoming 2021 season, bringing a full collection of sustainably made team wear and merchandise that captures the brand’s edge but also speaks to our shared values.”
Catie Munnings - Team Driver, Andretti said “It’s everything to be part of the Andretti team for Extreme E. Sometimes, being in the spotlight can have its benefits if you can make positive statement about the need for environmental action to save the planet. Wearing and promoting kit made from recycled materials is a great way to support that cause, go Carbon positive and send out a message that says sustainability is a choice that changes the future.”
